She looks so familiar. I thought. She was, Lisa Edelstein—who I recognized from watching several seasons of “House” in years past. Was one of the leads in a fun, quirky, and surprising (in a good way) indie film I saw this eve. “The Everything Pot.” The film was a treat, as was seeing my friends who had something to do with it.
The invite was extended with the caveat of, I know it’s a weird time to go to a movie, but… the reason not to go, being the Los Angeles nightmare firestorm wind explosion of recent days which continues to burn as I write. Although less so.
I did go.
I have been immersed in the news, the fund drives, trying to reach an old friend who has not responded for now. Hearing about friends, whose residences who no longer exist, and thousands of others, I don’t know.
I personally was unaffected by any of the damage. A little smoke and a lucky location, we were spared.
But tomorrow, I will tune in again. Anyone reading this knows someone, or someone who knows someone who was not spared in some way.
Take a break if you need one, watch a movie. But please remember that there is a donation you can make of time or of stuff or of money. If none of those things, a show of support to someone who may at this moment, be lost in the thoughts of what the hell just happened.
